Makeup is my paint and faces are my canvas

Hi and welcome to my beauty world!

I’ve been drawn to colors ever since I can remember. My childhood obsession with anything Crayola morphed into an ongoing love affair with all things makeup.

As a makeup enthusiast and avid collector for more than a few years, I’ve become selective in my purchasing choices. I seek out the unique, the interesting, the intriguing to add to my collection. And I’m excited to share my findings with you.

This blog is dedicated to providing in-depth reviews complete with swatches, formula analysis, products comparisons, and links to buy. I’ve tried a lot of makeup over the years so wherever possible I reference similar products.

Since a huge part of makeup comes down to preference and individual needs, I do my best to convey each product’s qualities in my reviews so you can decide for yourself if it’ll work for you.

When it comes to skin I’m down for anything glowy, dewy, radiant… you get the idea. I like skin to look like skin and my biggest struggle is with undereye darkness. While I’m definitely a nude lip girl, I love incorporating subtle color into my eye looks. Think muted pinks, dusty plums, neutral greens, they’re all what I call “modern neutrals” and I’m all about the smokey eye.

That being said, even if you are a matte skin, winged liner, red lip devotee, I think you’ll find there’s something here for everyone.

A couple of things to note when browsing the site:

  • For reference, I’m about an NC30 in Mac shades (does anyone even use Mac’s shade system anymore?), light to medium with slight yellow/olive undertones.
  • All swatches are done on bare skin, without primer. I think it’s helpful to see what a product can do in its raw form.
  • In general, I don’t rate products on their longevity because I think their are too many variables at play (skin type, other products worn) to give a proper assessment.

I hope you enjoy reading and that you find the information helpful. And I’d love to hear your comments, questions, and suggestions so please share in the comment section.

And oh yeah, CC are my initials, not my name 😉.
