Here’s a shopping fact that tends to be true accross the board: If it’s available on amazon prime, chances are that’s where you’ll purchase from. I mean, why pay shipping or wait a week when you can get it delivered free within two days. And while amazon’s high end beauty department doesn’t have that much to choose from, they’ve got a pretty good selection of affordable makeup. But today we’re talking tools, the products I use on a daily basis that have changed my beauty routine. And they’re all available on, you guessed it, amazon. So let’s go through the best makeup tools you can buy on Amazon.

Real Techniques Miracle Cleansing Sponge

The thing about wearing a full face of makeup is that it’s a pain to take off. And yeah, you could use a heavy duty wipe like the Olay Daily Facials but those can be pretty harsh. On the other hand my HG Fresh Soy Face Cleanser doesn’t always feel like it’s getting all the makeup off. That’s where this sponge come in.

Shaped like the brand’s classic blending sponge, it’s got a porous texture that’s the perfect balance of exfoliating without being abrasive. A small amount of cleanser goes a long when paired with the Real Techniques Miracle Cleansing Sponge and gets off every last bit of makeup, leaving my face freshly cleaned but not stripped. It’s gentle enough that I can even use it around my eyes to remove mascara and long wearing eye makeup.

Acrylic Cosmetic Palette with Spatula

I know some of you are probably thinking, “that’s just for pro artist, let’s skip to the next paragraph”. But how many times have you found yourself using the back of your hand to pump out foundation or mix two products together. Aside from being messy, unhygienic, (and potentially getting it on you clothes), I personally can’t stand the feel of foundation on my hands. If you’ve got dry skin you know what I’m talking about. And if you’re all about mixing to get the perfect shade or texture this palette will really come in handy.

The spatula is particularly helpful for scraping out that last bit of product or if you like mixing lipsticks or other cream products, it’ll help you get the perfect amount. I keep a spray bottle of alcohol handy to easily wipe down my palette and spatula after each use and the small size is easy to store.

If you’re a makeup artist and prefer to keep your palette on hand while working on clients check out this palette that sits on top of your hand for easy access.

Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner

This is a must if you hate washing brushes (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?). I keep a mini spray bottle of this magic blue potion in my vanity and with a few spritzes, my brushes are clean and sanitized. This cleanser dries in seconds so it’s perfect if you’re using one brush for several shades or if you’ve got multiple clients. The bigger bottle is better value so I use it to refill my mini spray bottle when it’s empty. You can read my full review of the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner here.

Washcloths

This is the partner to the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleanser. Keep one handy on your vanity while you’re doing your makeup so you can rub the color off after you’ve sprayed your brush. I like having a multipack so I can toss them in the wash when I’m done and pull a fresh one for the next use.

Antibacterial Bar Soap

Don’t waste money on overpriced Beauty Blender Solid Cleansers. Bar soap works perfectly to remove every last ounce of foundation from my makeup sponges. I keep a soap dish in my bathroom vanity so I can start my routine with a freshly washed damp sponge.

Real Techniques Mini Miracle Complexion Sponge

Concealer junkies listen up. Most of you probably know the struggle to apply concealer. How to maximize coverage without emphasizing all the crepey fine lines under our eyes. Damp beauty sponges are definitely the way to go and these mini sponges from Real Techniques are the perfect size for getting around the undereye area. They’re also soft enough to gently pat your concealer in, unlike some of those generic rock-hard sponges you can find online.

Silicone Makeup Brush Cleaning Mat

I remember when Sigma first released their silicone brush cleaning glove and charged a ridiculous price for it ($39 and yes I bought it). This mat is under $10 and comes with cute little suction cups so you can stick it in place in your sink while you vigorously rub out all the makeup. The textured surface makes deep cleaning your brushes a quicker chore and it’s easy to store when not in use.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Sharpener

anastasia sharpener

A good sharpener is must when doing make-up and while you could skimp I say spend the few extra bucks and go for this Anastasia Beverly Hills sharpener. At $6 it’s a great price for a quality sharpener that won’t ruin your eyeliners and jumbo pencils. The larger side has a removeable filter so you can use it for both medium and large jumbo pencils.

Makeup Brush Drying Rack

This is really helpful if you’re trying to take care of your makeup brushes. It comes with several sized silicone slots to hold all types of brushes and hangs them upside down while they dry. This keeps the moisture dripping out of the brush and away from the glue in the ferrule without bending the bristles out of shape. It’s also collapsible which makes it convenient to store in between washes.

Real Techniques Professional Setting Makeup Brush

I usually prefer natural bristle brushes for applying powders but this brush is an exception. It’s the perfect size for applying under eye setting powder or highlighter and the soft duo-fiber bristles doing a great job of diffusing the powder on the skin. It also doesn’t have an obnoxiously oversized handle like so many of Real Techniques’ brushes so I’m not worried about it taking up space in my brush holders.
