As an avid makeup user, I can attest to the dread I face when it’s time to wash my brushes. And though there’s nothing quite like the feeling I get when the monumental task is behind me, I know the satisfaction is only temporary.

The Cinema Secrets Cleaner is an instant cleaner for spot cleaning your brushes in between deep washes, so when I’m done applying my makeup I get to put a completely clean brush back into my brush holder rather than starting that dreaded pile of dirty brushes again.
And here’s the best part- besides being easy to use and actually getting every bit of makeup off, it also dries instantly which means you can use the same brush to apply multiple shades without contaminating the color. This makes it particularly ideal for makeup artists because it helps downsize the amount of brushes they bring on each job.
Another key factor is that the product claims to be a 99.99% antimicrobial disinfectant so aside from removing excess makeup, it also keeps your brushes bacteria free. I also like the pretty cerulean color of the product, but that’s just an added bonus.

As you can see, the price per ounce decreases significantly if you purchase a larger bottle. Personally, I purchase both the largest size bottle, as well as the spray bottle because the spray is the most convenient way to apply the product and the small size is easy to store in my vanity. Of course, you can also just get a mini spray bottle from the travel toiletries section of Target for $1.99.
The Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner has a strong chemically, vanilla scent that’s somewhat reminiscent of car refresher but dissipates once the brush dries.
How to use the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner
The easiest way to use the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner is to spray it directly on to your brush head, and then rub the brush against a washcloth or paper towel to remove all product from the brush. There’s no need to rinse your brush off cleaning, it’ll be completely clean and ready to use.
Removing Powder Products From Brushes
For removing powder products from eye brush 3-4 spritzes is usually enough depending on the size of the brush. I use about 4-5 sprays to remove powder products from face brushes and it usually only takes one application of cleaner to get all the product off the brush unless there’s a lot of powder build up on it.
Removing Cream Products From Brushes
Cream products take a bit more effort in that you would need to repeat the process of spraying and rubbing several times to get the brush fully clean. The more product on the brush, the more cleaner you’ll have to use to remove it and the longer it’ll take so it’s best to clean your brushes after each application rather than letting it build up.
Drying Your Brushes
Smaller brushes like eye brushes dry within seconds, fluffy face brushes dry in under thirty seconds, and you can speed up the process by continuing to wipe your brush against a clean cloth. Dense, synthetic brushes like foundation brushes may take slightly longer but if you just rub your brush several times against a clean cloth you’ll find it dries almost immediately.
Cinema Secrets also sells a cleansing tin which can be purchased separately for $6 or as a set with the cleaner itself. They recommend using the tin by pouring the product in and dipping the brush directly into the cleaner before wiping clean. I haven’t used this method as I prefer to spray it directly on to the brush however I think this would work well for cleaning foundation brushes because the brush will soak up more cleaner than if it was just sprayed.
I still deep clean my brushes in the sink every two months or so but far less frequently than if I wasn’t using the Cinema Secrets Cleaner.
